We are delighted to announce that the universities of Swansea and Central Lancashire (UCLan) are the first to sign up to our Higher Education Language Partnership scheme.
CIOL Chief Executive Ann Carlisle said ‘We are delighted to be partnering with Swansea University and UCLan in our new HE Partnership scheme. It is critical as a professional body that we support the valuable work universities do in preparing the next generation of linguists by offering a framework which provides professional recognition and qualifications.’
Dr Daniel Waller, Dean of the School of Language and Global Studies, UCLan, said 'We are delighted to be working with the Chartered Institute of Linguists. We aim to give our students the skills they need to embark on successful, global careers, and our partnership with the CIOL will play a significant role in helping us to achieve this.'
The recently launched scheme offers universities the opportunity to work in partnership with an internationally recognised professional body - the Chartered Institute of Linguists (CIOL).
This collaboration provides:
CIOL’s HE Language Partnership gives language students parity with their peers in other chartered professions. They will be part of a network of professional translators, interpreters and language specialists using their skills in business, academia and research.
Membership of CIOL is free to all language students at Student Affiliate level and is the first step on the career ladder to becoming a chartered linguist. It is open to all language undergraduate and postgraduate students studying in the UK and overseas.
