Cinema trip

To escape from the February rain, we opted for a trip to the warm plains of La Mancha in the company of Don Quixote. Our evening started in the bar where we spent a happy hour drinking and chatting with old friends and new members.

The film, as is to be expected from a member of the Monty Python troupe, was funny, weird, charming and slightly mad – like Don Quixote himself. We emerged from the bizarre world of Don Quixote two hours later and returned to the reality of the bar to discuss the film.

The Man Who Killed Don Quixote is a very entertaining film about the problems experienced by Terence Guilliam in his attempt to make a film about Don Quixote. This is a jocular meditation on the pervasive influence of myths, the corrupting nature of power and the insanity of the filmmaking process – the perfect way to spend a Saturday afternoon in February. We will meet at the MAC from 4.00 onwards and have a drink/snack in the bar afterwards giving us a chance to discuss the film and do some networking.

Attendees are to buy their own tickets: https://macbirmingham.co.uk/event/the-man-who-killed-don-quixote
