The Chartered Institute of Linguists (CIOL) has responded to Home Office plans to reduce rates of interpreters' pay through the umbrella group PI4J (Professional Interpreters for Justice).
PI4J represents over 2,240 interpreters, and aims to work with government to ensure quality standards of interpreting available to the Justice System and the Public Sector.
Together with other PI4J member organisations, CIOL has signed a letter to the Central Interpreters Unit, UK Visas & Immigration, setting out their position on the matter. The letter is available to view here: PI4J letter to Home Office - December 2015.
