Announcing the exciting upcoming CIOL Conference Season 2025!
This coming March, building on this year's popular events, we’re bringing you an expanded programme with even more speakers for the two dedicated in-person events: CIOL Translators Day and Awards and CIOL Interpreters Day, followed by a one-day Online Conference - for all linguists, wherever you are in the world.
Once again, Translators Day and Interpreters Day will take place at the stunning etc.venues St Paul’s in Central London, known for its state-of-the-art facilities and exceptional catering. These events offer unparalleled networking opportunities along with insights from a wide range of landuage professionals.
And, to support our wonderful community of linguists, we’re again offering a season ticket for all three events or individual tickets - not only that, all prices have been frozen for 2025.

CIOL Translators Day and CIOL Awards
Date: Friday 14 March 2025
Time: from 9.15am (registration) – 3.30pm, followed by CIOL Awards from 4pm - 6pm
Location: Etc.venues St Paul’s, London
This special all-day event in London, primarily for translators, will have a bumper programme celebrating the skilled human translator and exploring the issues that we face in the current market, such as MT and AI, diversification, and specialisation.
Expanded from last year, with two streams so you should always find at least one speaker you want to listen to, we'll also hear from a wide variety of speakers on why they are optimistic for the future of translation and languages. Delegates will have the opportunity for a lively linguistic Q&A with the wonderful Susie Dent.
And of course, as ever, this will be a great opportunity for fellow professionals to come together to learn from and network with each other. To support our community of linguists in these changing times, we have frozen prices for this event, representing outstanding value for such a packed and interesting programme, along with great networking opportunities in an outstanding central London venue!

CIOL Interpreters Day

Also taking place in London, our second one-day event is dedicated to interpreters and spoken word linguists. This event will feature a diverse range of presentations, expert panels, and engaging Q&As exploring the challenges and opportunities for interpreters and spoken word linguists. Topics will span from public service interpreting to content creation, developing a portfolio of work, and leveraging spoken word skills in various contexts.
New for 2025, we've expanded the programme to include two parallel streams, ensuring there's always a session that piques your interest. We'll delve into the impact of AI on interpreting, discuss strategies for specialisation, and hear from seasoned professionals about their career journeys and insights into the future of our field.
As always, this event provides an excellent platform for networking, allowing fellow interpreters to connect, share experiences, and learn from one another.
Recognising the tough working conditions and fee context for many interpreters, and the importance of community to us all, we have frozen prices for Interpreters Day for 2025. CIOL is dedicated to supporting translators, interpreters, educators and linguists in all walks of life, both in the UK and internationally. Our online conference will be of interest to all linguists and lovers of languages, wherever they are in the world.
The programme will bring to life the vibrant and ever-changing landscape and possibilities for linguists and today's evolving careers in languages and language service. All the speakers will bring to life the rich interplay of languages, linguistics and learning about the lives and work of linguists.
