In the second of our themed events entitled ‘Polska! Polski!’, CIoL Midlands Network member Graeme Hunter took us on a virtual visit to Poland, its history, people and language.
With 26 people joining the virtual event from as far away as South Africa, we watched an interesting presentation with maps and slides, interspersed with a contribution from Midlands-based translator/interpreter Agata McCrindle about her fascinating life working as an interpreter with the Police. The event also included an interview with a UK-based Polish teacher about her experiences in Poland and UK. Finally, Graeme read an extract in Polish from a short story by Polish author Sławomir Mrożek along with his own English translation.
