Lincolnshire Society Talk and Networking Lunch

All events have been postponed until face to face meetings can be resumed

Talk:  ‘Do the rules of grammar, punctuation and spelling still matter in modern communications and, if so, who should be responsible for ensuring that these rules are applied?’

A talk by Major (ret’d) Dennis Weir followed by discussion and a networking lunch

A self-confessed language pedant, Dennis was incensed by views expressed on the radio last year by the (arguably) controversial Stephen Fry who put forward the opinion that grammar, punctuation and spelling are simply obstacles to free spirited creative writing. During the course of today’s talk, Dennis will lead CIOL branch members in a discussion on this topic and find out to what extent they agree or disagree with Mr Fry’s views.

12 noon - 16.00 (approximately)

The talk will begin at 12:15pm

November 21st, 2020 12:00 PM   to   4:00 PM
