11:00 - 12:00      ‘Know Your Worth’ - understanding marketing & negotiating for interpreters, with Julia Poger

Julia’s seminar is aimed at interpreters wishing to improve relationships with clients and prospects, gain more respect, and negotiate higher fees. By examining the mind-set underlying the marketing and negotiating tasks that interpreters carry out every day, participants will obtain invaluable tools for marketing their services and negotiating contracts that they may be put into practice immediately

Ewa will share her expertise on how to broaden your client portfolio, with a particular focus on assignments in business settings. She will also shed light on how multiple skills, in addition to interpreting, can be harnessed to offer bespoke packages for business clients and look at practical ways to achieve this goal, including the benefits of working collaboratively with other linguists.

Speaker bios

Julia Poger M.A.C.I. (MIIS); ATA; AIIC
Julia started marketing and negotiating at a young age and since receiving her M.A. in conference interpreting (1987), has interpreted at high level for both US and French administrations and numerous international organisations. She has also trained interpreters in consecutive interpretation and since 2002 has offered her seminar: "Know Your Worth: Understanding Marketing and Negotiating for Interpreters" across six countries, as well as a short class during the annual Cambridge Conference Interpretation Course, of which she is a co-organiser. She is a member of the Belgian AIIC Network of Trainers (BANT) and offers consulting services on marketing, branding and brand identity for luxury and niche products and services – like interpreting!

Ewa-Jasinska-Davidson MA, DPSI, CPP
Ewa is a qualified and experienced Conference, Business and PSI interpreter for Polish A, English B and Spanish C. She holds interpreting qualifications from both Poland and the United Kingdom. Ewa has been providing interpreting services for over 14 years and loves to solve communication headaches for multi-­lingual businesses and organisations. She is very enthusiastic about entrepreneurship and has been supporting entrepreneurs and SMEs interested in internationalisation. Ewa also works as a simultaneous Interpreting Tutor at the London Metropolitan University and is a member of NRPSI, ITI and IAPTI. Her website is www.ewajasinska.com.
