Event report
Sarah Hoskins MCIL kindly offered to organise a visit to Bromley House, a private library in Nottingham which was founded in 1816. Geraldine, the assistant librarian, gave us a very entertaining guided tour of this fascinating building. We admired the self-supporting spiral staircase (only one person at a time), we were intrigued by the meridian line (used to set the clocks correctly) and we were awed by the massive collection of books and of course the building itself which is an architectural gem. The visit was followed by a very enjoyable lunch. A big thank you to Sarah for organising this visit.
