Statement: Dr. Chongjun Liao holds a PhD in Translation and Interpreting from Newcastle University, where he also earned a research master's degree in Translation Studies. With over 15 years of experience, he has interpreted at more than 500 conferences and serves as a contract simultaneous interpreter for the United Nations, and previously with the British Embassy in Beijing. His clients include UK ministers, MPs, Lord Mayor of London, and city leaders. Dr. Liao also teaches interpreting at universities in China and the UK. Apart from his CIOL membership, Dr. Liao is an Expert Member of the Translators Association of China, and a pre-candidate of the International Association of Conference Interpreters (aiic).
