Statement: My bilingual status in English and Farsi was confirmed by the Institute in 2003, thus allowing ‎me to translate in both directions: Farsi ↔ English.‎ PUBLICATIONS Colloquial Persian, Routledge, London and New York, 2001, 2010.‎ The 100 Word Exercise Book: Persian, (with Jane Wightwick), g-and-w Publishing, 2003.‎ ‎‘Cross-cultural communication’ is my principal research area. This is reflected in my PhD ‎thesis entitled 'VARIABLES OF COMMUNICATIVE INCOMPETENCE IN THE ‎PERFORMANCE OF IRANIAN LEARNERS OF ENGLISH AND ENGLISH LEARNERS ‎OF PERSIAN' (SOAS, 1992). It highlights some of the major differences between English ‎and Persian, accountable for miscommunication between Iranians and English speakers.‎
